Expanding My Palate

I recently I have developed a taste for paper. All kinds of paper: tissue paper, printer paper, even plastic bags (OK, that's not paper but it was still delicious). It's so fun to tear paper apart and I love the noise it makes when it rips. However, I don't think Mommy and Daddy are too keen on my chewing up paper. I think I may have destroyed some receipts, bills and Mommy's homework (yep, it's a legit excuse!). And I guess it can be a little messy and I really don't like cleaning up after myself.
This was the plastic bag from tonight. Oops!

Seeing Red

It's been pretty cold out lately (at least that's what Mommy and Daddy say. I really don't mind or notice much because I have all this warm fur!) so Mommy and Daddy don't let me stay outside too long because my paws might freeze. So what is a cooped up, wound up puppy to do inside all the time? I get so antsy, and all I want to do is run and play - even in the house. Sliding across the kitchen floor has proven to be pretty fun.
But my favorite thing to do is play with my red Kong ball. I go up to Mommy or Daddy and just drop it their lap. I know they will throw it because I make sure it's slobbery....hehehe! Sometimes though I like to play tug-o-war with the ball too. I could play with my ball all day. It's so much fun to chase it around especially when it takes all those weird bounces and I don't know where it's going. I've also gotten really good at catching it right out of the air! Don't tell Daddy, but Mommy throws the ball the best.

Is it time to go outside yet?

Puppy Play Time

Yesterday, Mommy and Daddy had friends over to watch something they kept calling the "Super Bowl." I kept thinking that I was going to see a giant bowl of food or something, but nothing ever happened. Anyway, I was glad Mommy and Daddy's friends came over because they brought my friends! I got to see Rudi and Elliott! I haven't seen Rudi is a long time, and he and I played and played until we got too loud and our mommies told us to lay down.

Elliott is a yellow lab mix and doesn't really like to play with me much. He just likes to hang out and chew my bones.

Rudi is a 118-pound, black lab/great dane mix and he has a really deep voice that scares our neighbors. I'm not scared of him, even though he's a lot bigger than me. He's one of my best friends and we have so much fun together.
Here's a picture of me and Rudi playing tug-o-war with my bone!

My, What Big Ears You Have!

This is my big sister, Kilah. Isn't she pretty? She's a 3-year-old German Shepherd/Siberian Husky mix. She and I are polar opposites when it comes to our personalities. I am very outgoing, but Kilah is very shy. She told me that she's so shy because, before Mommy and Daddy adopted her from the shelter, people were really mean to her. She never likes to talk about it. But since I moved in, I have been helping her come out of her shell. Mommy and Daddy say she has made lots of progress. I think she's always going to be shy, but that's OK because she and I still have lots of fun together.

This is Kilah when she was a puppy.

The Beginning

Wow! My very first blog post. I guess I should introduce myself. Hi, I'm Moxyn. I'm a 2-year-old black lab/border collie mix. I was adopted from the Franklin County Animal Shelter in Columbus, Ohio in February 2008 by my wonderful mommy and daddy. I weighed only 8 pounds when I came home. Now, I'm a big girl at 58 pounds.

I would love to show you some photos of my cute self:

This is my very first picture. That's mommy holding me.

This was my first night in my new home.

This is me playing tug-o-war with my big sister, Kilah. I'll introduce her later. Mommy thinks Kilah used to let me win when I was small, but I was one tough puppy.

This is me being adorable as always.

Mommy has this picture of me in her office.

This is me on my front porch.

And this is me now.

I hope you stop back often to catch up on all the fun things that happen in my life. I can't wait to introduce you to my family and friends. And if you'd be so kind, please visit the Animal Rescue Site and click to give (it's free!) to other dogs (and cats) like me who need your help.
